What to Bring

Fish Processing

Fish processing at Hardy Buoys Smoke Fish Inc. in Port Hardy or T&M Seafoods in Queen Charlotte (formerly Albion Fish Processing) is recommended, but NOT included with your trip. At “licensed professional” fish processors, your fish are legally custom portioned then vacuum packed and blast frozen. Then you have options to either pack your fish into insulated boxes purchased from the processor or pack your fish into insulated coolers provided by you. This will help ensure your processed catch arrives at its final destination frozen. Insulated packaging from the processor will usually keep your fish frozen for up to 48 hours under normal (cool) conditions. When an angler handles their own fish for travel, each fish can only be quartered (cut into four pieces). Depending on the size of the fish, this can be rather large portions. Using a certified fish processor will legally allow your fish to be portioned into more than just four pieces for travel. This option makes meal portions much more manageable.

Fishing License

Please obtain a BC Tidal Fishing License below. Licenses for individuals 16 years and under are free and still require one.
Purchase a Salmon Conservation Stamp if you plan on retaining any salmon.

*** Be sure to print the actual fishing license and not just the receipt. Any Fisheries Officer will not recognize the receipt as substitute for your license.
*** Fishing licenses are no longer sold manually (hand written). Please Purchase/Print your fishing license online prior to coming on your trip.
